About the restaurant
The best Greek restaurant in Athens is definitely the Parthenon. The food is absolutely amazing and the service is outstanding. The atmosphere is really cozy and the staff is very friendly. The prices are definitely reasonable, and the portions are huge! Overall, I absolutely loved my experience at the Parthenon and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great Greek dining experience.
The terrace at the Parthenon restaurant
I had heard a lot about the restaurant so I was excited to get invited to review its flagship menu, The Gods. With €195 per person on the menu, I was expecting a food experience of a lifetime and I was not disappointed. In this post, I will tell you about the unique dishes we got to try as well as discuss what makes Hellenistic cuisine different from modern Greek food.
The location
When we reached the vicinity of the restaurant, we were quite surprised as to how big the premises were – it covered a large area with several indoor sections as well as an open-air area overlooking the iconic city.
The Parthenon is located on top of the Acropolis, which is the highest point in Athens. From the Parthenon, you can see all of Athens and the surrounding area. The food is incredible, and the view is even better. If you’re looking for a truly memorable Greek dining experience, the Parthenon is the place to go.
The view from the restaurant
The Parthenon restaurant has a minimalist design with high ceilings, huge white walls and green vegetation with great contrast to the furniture. The restaurant specializes in Hellenistic cuisine i.e. the food which the ancient Greeks used to eat.
The food
The food at the Parthenon restaurant is absolutely divine. The menu features local, seasonal dishes that have been carefully prepared to preserve their authenticity while still showcasing the chefs’ skills. Seafood is a specialty at the Parthenon, featuring fresh catches such as grouper, sea bass, and octopus, as well as some of Greece’s renowned fish dishes like the Athenian-style baked fish. The restaurant also offers a selection of succulent grilled meats and poultry dishes, delicious vegetarian options and homemade Greek desserts. The flavor combinations are as vibrant and diverse as Greek culture itself, making the Parthenon an unforgettable experience for any food lover.

The menu
We were a party of 5 and our friend who accompanied us was vegetarian, so we asked our friendly and helpful waiter to help us choose a set menu that would suit everyone.
The vegetarian option included several dishes which included stuffed vine leaves, rice & lentils, etc. alongside a main of fried Aubergine with cheese.

Our meals included octopus salad, lamb on boiled greens, baked cod & fried potatoes, rice with lentils & fried Courgettes

All of us enjoyed our meals and though the portions were small, we were all filled up by the end of the meal. We didn’t have room for dessert but we all agreed that this was the best Greek restaurant we had tried in Athens.

Every dish was cooked to perfection and the flavors were out of this world. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an amazing dining experience.
